Noises problem
1999 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 99 taurus 6cyll ohv aut trans with 150000 miles on it. I had a engine installed about 2 years ago from a wreck with 40000 miles on it . The engine seems good and strong burns no oil runs smooth and fine. My problem is if I take off somewhat quickly I am getting a strong poping sound from the front. I cant quite figure exactly where. Also if I punch it from 1st to second same sound. It doesnt do it after that or if I pull out slowly. It doesnt do it in reverse. I checked the cv joints and axels by visual and by shaking and there was some movement backward and forward on both and a little on the left from side to side but not bad. The boots look good. I checked the mounts as best I could and foun one bolt missing on the right mount and after a test drive found a bolt on the ground on the left side. My repair manual is for 1989 to 2001s T he mounts they show are not from a 99 The transmission seems ok with shift points where they should be only if I punch it alittle the pop from 1st to second I can hold the brake give it gas and have the pop. It is good one plenty of sound. Does anyone have any idea of what this coul be?
