First time this has happened, but driving the car today, I noticed - about at the same time - that the speedometer had stopped working and that the car was not shifting out of 1st gear. Check engine light lit about 2 blocks from home. Got home, checked oil levels after allowing oil to settle, added a quart just to be safe. Still has check engine light lit, but speedo and gears shifting so far. This has never happened before. Opinions of what might be wrong?
