1998 Ford Taurus

When my Taurus acellerates past 3RPMs my batt light flickers and the car seems to loose power. EX: If the headlights are on during acelleration they go dim. When I ease off the gas it goes back to normal. Problem has been getting increasingly worse over the past few weeks. I checked the connect to the battery and the battery itself is fairly new so why is this happening?

could be weak or failing alternator or bad alternator drive belt. you should have alternator tested at local auto part store. most do this for free.

Check the drive belt tension of the alternator if okay-pull the alternator and get it load tested.
