RADIATOR - 3.0L OHV MOTOR (VINs 1, 2 & U)
Removal
Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove battery.
Remove BATTERY TRAY .
Remove clip retaining constant control relay module and position module aside.
Remove radiator cap.
Raise vehicle on hoist.
Remove radiator splash shield.
Drain engine cooling system.
Remove the radiator mounting bracket assembly.
Remove lower radiator hose.
Partially lower vehicle.
Remove upper radiator hose.
Remove radiator overflow hose.
Remove upper A/C condenser core retaining bolts.
Remove upper transmission oil cooler tube clips.
Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube using 3/8 Inch Fuel Line Disconnect Tool (T90T-9550-C).
Raise vehicle on hoist.
Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube clips.
Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube using 3/8 Inch Fuel Line Disconnect Tool (T90T-9550-C).
Remove transmission oil cooler bracket and position transmission oil cooler aside.
Remove lower A/C condenser core bolts and position A/C condenser core aside.
Remove radiator support bracket.
Remove radiator.
Installation
Position radiator.
Position radiator support bracket and tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Position A/C condenser core and tighten lower A/C condenser core bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Position transmission oil cooler tube and install transmission oil cooler tube bracket. Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install lower transmission oil cooler tube.
Install lower transmission oil cooler tube clips.
Install lower radiator hose.
Install radiator mounting bracket assembly. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install radiator splash shield.
Lower vehicle.
Install upper transmission oil cooler tube.
Install upper transmission oil cooler tube clips.
Install upper A/C condenser core retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install radiator overflow hose. Tighten clamps securely.
Install upper radiator hose.
Position constant control relay module and clip securely.
Install BATTERY TRAY .
Install battery.
Connect battery ground cable.
Fill and bleed cooling system.
Start engine and inspect for leaks.
RADIATOR - 3.0L DOHC (VIN S) & 3.4L (VIN N)
Removal
Remove engine air cleaner.
Disconnect battery cables and remove battery
Remove BATTERY TRAY .
Raise and support vehicle.
Drain cooling system.
Remove four bolts retaining lower radiator hose shield and remove lower radiator hose shield.
Disconnect lower radiator hose from radiator.
Disconnect lower transmission oil cooler tube from radiator using Fuel Line Disconnect Tool (T90T-9550-S). See Fig. 1 .
Remove two lower radiator mounts. See Fig. 2 .
Lower vehicle and remove two headlamp assembly-to-upper support attaching bolts.
Loosen headlamp assembly pinch bolts, then remove headlamp assembly from vehicle.
Remove two front bumper cover-to-front fender attaching screws.
Raise and support vehicle. Remove tire and wheel assemblies.
Remove lower radiator air deflector-to-lower radiator attaching screws.
Remove air deflector-to-front bumper cover attaching screws, then the deflector from vehicle.
Remove left and right splash shield-to-lower radiator air deflector retaining screws.
Remove left and right splash shield top center attaching screws.
Remove left and right splash shield push pins.
Remove remaining splash shield attaching screws, then the splash shields from fenders.
Remove two bumper cover-to-front fender side retaining nuts.
Remove front bumper cover-to-radiator support attaching screws.
Disconnect parking/turn signal and side marker lamp electrical connectors.
Remove front bumper cover.
Lower vehicle and remove four hood latch support attaching bolts, then position support aside.
Disconnect upper radiator hose and coolant overflow hose from radiator.
Remove power distribution box and harness from radiator support and move aside.
Remove air conditioning ambient air temperature sensor wiring from radiator support.
Remove front air bag sensor and bracket from radiator support.
On all models with block heaters, remove wiring from radiator support.
On all models, remove upper radiator support-to-fender attaching bolts.
Remove remaining upper radiator attaching bolts and remove upper radiator support from vehicle.
Remove engine sensor control wiring retaining screws and position wiring aside.
Disconnect cooling fan electrical connectors.
Remove nut from power steering/transmission cooler bracket.
Remove air conditioning condenser core mounting bolts.
Position air conditioning condenser forward, using something suitable, like mechanics wire. See Fig. 3 .
Disconnect upper transmission oil cooler tube from radiator. Remove both radiator brackets.
Tilt radiator forward and lift from vehicle.
Installation
Position radiator in fan shroud.
Install both lower radiator brackets and tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Position A/C condenser core to radiator and install two bolts and one stud. Tighten to specification.
Position power steering/transmission cooler and secure with one bolt and one nut. Tighten to specification.
Connect upper transmission oil cooler tube to radiator.
Install six screws to engine control sensor and tighten securely.
Connect engine control sensor wiring to both cooling fan motors.
Install upper radiator support. Install upper radiator support bolts and tighten to specification.
Install upper radiator-to-fender attaching bolts and tighten to specification.
On models with block heaters, install wiring to radiator support.
On all models, install front air bag sensor and bracket to radiator support and tighten bolts to specification.
Install air conditioning ambient air temperature sensor and wiring to radiator support.
Connect upper radiator hose and radiator overflow hose to radiator.
Install four bolts to power distribution box and harness and bracket. Tighten to specification.
Install hood latch support and four bolts. Tighten bolts to specification.
Raise and support vehicle. Install the front bumper cover.
Connect parking/turn signal and side marker lamp electrical connectors
Install front bumper cover-to-radiator support attaching screws.
Install two bumper cover-to-front fender side retaining nuts. Tighten nuts to specification.
Install splash shields, then attaching screws to fenders.
Install left and right splash shield pushpins.
Install left and right splash shield top center attaching screws.
Install left and right splash shield to lower air deflector and install retaining screws.
Install air deflector-to-front bumper cover attaching screws.
Install lower radiator air deflector-to-lower radiator attaching screws.
Install wheel and tire assemblies. Tighten lug nuts to specification.
Lower vehicle. Install the two front bumper cover-to-front fender attaching screws.
Install headlamp assemblies and install pinch bolts. Tighten to specification.
Raise and support vehicle. Connect lower transmission oil cooler tube to radiator.
Connect lower radiator hose to radiator and tighten clamps securely.
Install four bolts to lower hose shield and tighten to specification.
Lower vehicle. Install BATTERY TRAY .
Install engine air cleaner.
Fill and bleed cooling system.
Start engine and inspect for leaks.
