Hello

The ECM is located in the passenger's compartment above the hvac box which you can get to by removing the glove box door. Here is some diagrams (Below) so you can see what I am talking about.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

It passes through the firewall on the passenger side and is accessed from the engine side but most of it hangs inside under the dash.

Electrical problem
1995 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 158000 miles

My 16 year old daughter just bought this Ford Taurus, The check engine light is on and the seller said that 'The control module' needs replaced. The seller even had the part from NAPA and said that her husband was going to fix it but didn't have the time. The unit is about 4" long and 1.5" wide has two places for electrical plugs. The side is steel and comes with a small tube of dielectric paste. I have looked all over and can't find where this goes. Someone suggested that it attaches to the side of the distributor but I can't see it. Any ideas?

Hello,

If it is a 3.0L engine it is mounted on the side of the distributor.

If it is the 3.8L engine it is located on the passenger side firewall.

Check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump-could also be the ignition switch breaking up when it heats up-

the dome light and the fan will not shut off. My husband believes it is the brain box. Where is the brain box located? Could this be the problem?

Dome light most common to be door switch use penetrating oil and spray in the door latch open and close door few times try that on all doors

Fan always on!
Is it the Coolant fan?

Check coolant sensor, coolant sensor connector and wiring
Check for codes
Check fan relay, check CCR module
