when i first start the car and until it warms up it surges up and down extremely. after it warms up it's stable but when you put it in drive the RPM's increase. in the book i have it say's that it's a vacuum leak. i looked for leaks and found one and fixed it at still does it but it does run a little bit better. any other suggestions.

thanks

The EGR valve is another suspect. A bit of carbon deposit can hold the valve open enough to cause surging and erratic idle.

The PCV valve is another possible trouble spot. This should be replaced periodically.

Another overlooked point of trouble is the vacuum line to the evaporative emmision system. Take a look at the hose going to the lower left portion of the radiator support.

Just a few ideas of places to look for potential problems.
