Engine Cooling problem
1993 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Automatic 156000 miles

My engine cooling fan seems to be permanently on. I believe this kills my battery and is why my car will not start. I boost it and it works fine but when I shut my car off the fan stays on, killing my battery again causing my car to not start the next time I need it to. What should I do about this?

Thanks for the quick reply however I did some searching around last night and I found an answer on another web site. Apparently I had a switch left of my steering wheel. It had no label just a metal skinny knob which could flick up or down. I must have bumped it not knowing but I think that was the problem. I plugged in my battery charger and hooked it up to my battery and the fan came on immediately, so I flicked that switch down and the fan turned off. Hope this may help others with a similar problem. Not sure if the switch came with the car or if it was aftermarket, I didn't have a manual as I bought it used.

It don't come with that switch it was rigged up so the fan can constantly be on. Just don't forget the switch when you shutdown.
