I recently purchased a 1993 Ford Taurus SHO with a 5 speed manual. The car runs great.... when it wants to. The check engine light comes on intermittently and when it does the car runs awful. It seems to miss and has a hard time getting out of its own way. I ran codes and they led to the PCM. I got a remanufactured one and the same symptoms appeared. Code # 214 comes up pointing to either the ignition module, cam position sensor or crankshaft position sensor. Which of the following do you think it is. Also, the tach will quit working sometimes when the check engine light comes on. Pleses advise.

Thanks,

Duane

Sounds to me like it is the ignition module since the tachometer is going out. but it could be a combination of the three!
