1990 Ford Taurus 6 cyl

I am working on a 1990 ford tarsus the motor turns over but will not start. I pulled the spark plug out to see if it was giving a spark and it was not. I replaced the coil and still no spark I checked the wires going to the distributor and I have battery voltage on terminal 2 this is the run position terminal on terminal 3 the run circuit no voltage and no voltage on terminal 4 the start circuit. I have a Hanes book but I don’t know what to check next

There is a good possibility that your problem is either the stator in the distributor or the ignition module. Check for a pulsing signal at the distributor side of the coil while cranking the engine. If this signal is not present, you may not have a signal coming from the distributor to fire the ignition module and coil. A quick check would be to grab a used distributor from a running engine, and make a quick swap. If the engine starts, you have found the problem.

Good luck!
