squealing noise

2002 FORD RANGER XLT. AUTO TRANS. SIX CYL. THE MILEAGE IS 73813. THERE IS A SQUEALING NOISE THAT GETS LOUDER AS I ACCELERATE..THE NOISE COMES FROM THE BACK OF THE ENGINE TOWARD THE CAB. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS SO IT CAN BE FIXED. ITS DRIVING EVERYONE CRAZY!!

Sounds like the cam position sensor. looks like the distributor, but has a sensor in it instead of cap and rotor. From what I have seen the bushings go bad in the housing causing a "belt squeek" kind of noise. Have it looked at before the problem gets worse, have seen them actually break, leaving the vehicle stuck
