Ranger clutch problem
1991 Ford Ranger xlt, 3.0l V6, 66,000 miles. It's a little difficult to shift into 3rd and sometimes 1st gear, especially after warming up in too much stop-and-go city traffic. Clutch does not slip, just some resistance getting into gear. Clutch fluid level looks ok, but the fluid looks very muddy. This truck is a Hurricane Katrina survivor, and I'm not sure how 'wet' exactly it got, but there are problems with brake hydraulics too.

I live in Biloxi, so I know all about Katrina.
You have either a bad clutch master cyl or a bad slave cyl. Another good move by Ford, they put the slave cyl inside the transmission housing and you must remove the tranny to replace it. Good luck
