Limited slip an option?

I have a 1996 Ford Ranger Supercab 2WD 4.0L V6 Automatic and would like to see if I can have a limited slip or automatic locking differential system installed on it? The dealership seemed to imply it could be done but they said it would be cheaper and better if I just bought a 4WD instead. Is that true?

Hey Seh.
Its not often that I agree w/ a dealership. Wow. Can't believe it! 4x4 is a no brainer! Why spend big $$$ on posi/limited slip when you can get 4x? Trade and Save!

So I take it it would be more than $2,000, right? Because if it was less than that I was thinking it might be worth it since 1) I own my truck, 2) I like my truck, 3) selling and buying is a hassle, and 4) I don't really need 4WD; I just figured it would help in the snow and mud the 2 times a year I get into it. I guess I'll just make sure my next truck is 4WD.
