Ford Ranger, 2001, 70,000 miles. Slipped off boat ramp and back of truck was underwater. After being towed out, truck started and water blew out of exhaust but then died. Started momentarily and smoke came from exhaust and now it will not start.

Well I would say that more of the truck fell in to the water than the rear end and would I be right?

I should be able to back a truck or car down in to the water and as long as the intake does not suck in water the vehicle should be fine. I wholey doubt there is water in the tank and even if there were it should not manifest itself that quickly.
