My ford ranger just died coming home from work today, my brother is working on it for me. However,
it will start but will not run. When sprayed with either, it will run for a few minutes and die. But will not run for any time without either. What is the fuel pressure suppose to be on this vehicle? :

It should be about 40psi. Attach your gauge, turn the key to run. The pump should turn on for 2 seconds. Watch the pressure gauge. It should hold steady. You may want to check the fuel pressure regulator for a blown diaphram. It has 2 fuel lines on the bottom and a vacuum hose on top. With the engine running, or cranking, take the vacuum hose off. If fuel is squirting out, the regulator is bad.
