Transmission problem
2006 Ford Ranger Four Wheel Drive Automatic 30000 miles

I just purchased a used Ranger with warranty from a Ford dealer and I noticed a slight clunk sound/feeling when I take off slow or when I stop. The service department is telling me this is normal and will help the transmission last longer. Is this normal?

Same as you, I just purchased a similar 06 Ranger 4x4 from a dealer (52k miles)and had the same clunk on take-off. Rangers have a slip joint that needs lubrication with special grease. Had it done and "take-off clunk" went away. Still get a clunk after a few seconds when backing up slowly and trying to figure that out. But, ask the dealer to lube the slip joint. I think you'll be all set. Good luck!
