Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Ford Ranger 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I bought the auto zone repair manual for this truck in hopes of it helping me replace my busted timing belt. I did all as suggested but when the unit runs it has loss of power and simply just does not run right. I know something is just not right. I put the balancer on the crankshaft at TDC on the compression stroke and then the other gear ( not the camshaft gear ) aligned to the two diamonds; one on the pulley and on on the inner plastic housing/cover. Then I set the camshaft gear at the two pointers facing each other and I gently release the tension spring and put on the belt with counterclock wise on the camshaft. Everything is picture perfect except it has loss of power when it runs. This engine has no distributor.

Any suggestions?

HELP PLEASE !

After releasing the tensioner pulley every thing should be on the marks (before and after all marks should line up )
you may have it jump a tooth or so
double check it again
turn the crank to TDC mark and check cam marks
