1996 Ford Ranger ABS light

I just changed my front brake pads and rotors and bearings and they work fine but my ABS light comes on either immediately after I start moving or within 5 minutes of moving. After that it stays on. Do I need to bleed the brakes? Perhaps there is air in the line? Does the brake fluid even effect the ABS?

Thanks. Jim

Did your new rotors have tone rings installed? If not, Did you swap your old rings to thew new rotors? :|

If its one piece and just slips over the spindle, the ring would press over the area around where you installed the seals. This is what it should look like from the backside.

Keep in mind that this can also be due to the sensor not picking up the ring (due to misalignment). The sensor can also have poor connection.
Many of these replacement rotors do not come with the ABS ring and it requires the old ring to the transferred over or getting new ring(s).

First make sure that ABS ring is present on the new rotors.
Also check and verify the sensor is connected securely and doe does not have any corrosion on the harness.
