My dad has replaced his alternator on his Ford Ranger Camper edition. It now seems to be over charging the battery causing the water or acid to boil over and producing a sulfur smell. Do I need to add some Distilled water to the battery before the Battery ends up a Dead Battery?

Overcharging will boil the acid out of a battery, distilled water is advised. A word of caution, when around a overcharged battery keep anything with a flame or a spark away from it. After taking and refilling the battery make sure you wash the area down. Take it to a garage and have them check the charging rate.
