I have a e reg 2litre petrol ford probe, it as done 135k, it does smoke slightly, mainly on starting, the problem is when I accelerate there is a slight rattling noise and aceleration is poor, can you help, the noise only ocurs when I accelerate hard, thanks, vince

Lite smoke on start up is normally valve seals based on that the noise you are hearin could be a bad valve.

Verify the advice and price it with a garage then you can make a choice. You may want to consider having a remanufactured head intalled. If the car is in decent shape I think you can get it done for about a grand.

Bad valve seals like the man said. If you don't find a bad valve check the knock sensor.
