i have a e reg 2litre petrol ford probe,it as done 135k,it does smoke slightly,mainly on starting,the problem is when i accelerate there is a slight rattling noise and aceleration is poor,can you help,the noise only ocurs when i accelerate hard,thanks,vince

Lite smoke on start up is normally valve seals based on that the noise you are hearin could be a bad valve.

Verify the advice and price it with a garage then you can make a choice. You may want to consider having a remanufactured head intalled. If the car is in decent shape I think you can get it done for about a grand.

Bad valve seals like the man said. If you don't find a bad valve check the knock sensor.
