1997 Ford Probe Repair Question

1997 Ford Probe Car can not idle
Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Ford Probe 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 140000 miles
I had just changed the Timing belt along with the water pump the car started fine but when i test drove it, it couldnt get past 40 mph so i pulled over and then the engine jsut couldnt idle. I replaced the VAF sensor hoping maybe that was the problem but still the engine jerks and dies at high rpms it can stay a little stable but the car can not accelerate. Anybody have an idea of what it could be? right now i thinkng maybe its not timed correctly. Please help thank you
