1991 Ford Probe rough idle

1991 Ford Probe 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
My probe idles rough in gear, runs fine in park/neutral. I can accelerate quickly from a stop but slow accelerations surge badly. Have looked for obvious vacuum leaks, what now?

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Have you checked the catylatic converter for plugging?
