Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
2005 Other Ford Models All Wheel Drive Automatic 130000 miles

I was in an accident a couple months back. The front passenger tire bore the majority of the impact and broke the ball joint on the lower control arm. I replaced it and when I did, realized the inner cv joint had come out of the housing. I removed the boot and the tripod joint very easily was reinserted in the housing appearing to be simply displaced with no other damage. When I removed the boot, the fluid that came out was the viscosity of transmission fluid, not grease. What is the fluid that was in there? Is it tranny fluid? Or something special? Does it refill internally from the tranny? If no, how do I refill it?

Teh best thing to do here is just relace the whole shaft as they are around $150 at an auto parts store. YOu would need to replace the boot again and get th fluid besides if it were in an accident it may not be any good anyhow.
