96 mystique has motor with head casting number
RF-978M-6090-R74 16v zetec VCT manufactured in 97 Which repair book do I buy??????? cant find variable cam info.. its out of time thank you

That's most likely a DOHC 2.0 VIN#3. That requires special tools to time it correctly and cannot be done without them or it will cause a repeating PO340 code and barely run.

I don't know what your referring to but that is an original equipment motor for that car.

chilton and haynes for that car has nothing on variable cam timing

You can verify what I said if the 8th digit of your VIN# is a 3
