I have 1984 Ford Mustang L 3.8 engine with 134,000 miles. It is runing hot and at times overheating. The prior owner has a detailed diary of repairs and I see that the thermostat has not been replaced since 1997. I am female and not a wrench, but believe I can do this job. Please verify for me, that the thermostat is located on the top of the manifold where the water hose enters it? Thank you.

Its either at the thermostat housing on the intake manifold or the thermostat housing at the head. It will lead you there, out of all it has to be the 3.8 that's missing for this info-
