93 Mustang gt Hatchback

My door handle on drivers side has broke off, and luckily I was left with a small piece of it that I am able to open the door with. I have new door handles, but they are installed with rivets. Is there any way I can install them without rivets? And how in the world am I supposed to get to it?

Best left with the rivets to protect from B&E or theft. Handle is accessible by removing inner door panel and drilling rivets out
