Recently while on my way to work my car all of a sudden lost power. It still ran but when I pushed the acelerator it barely picked up speed. I pulled over and shut the car off and started it back up and it ran fine again. The next time I I drove the car it happened again. I did the same thing and it ran OK. About the third time this happened the "service engine soon" came on, however the car still runs smooth for about 10 miles each time I start it. What could be wrong?

It could be a few things, fuel pump, plugged catylatic converter, crank sensor.

What I need you to do is take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for trouble codes. Most will do it for free, so there will be no money out of pocket, and it should help us identify where the problem is coming from. IF he light is on, there should be a code stored in the computer.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks for the advice Joe.

I didn't know that a parts store could do the computer diagnostics. So I went to Autozone and they scanned it and it turns out is was the Ignition coil. $66 and 4 bolts and hopefully I be back running.

Thanks again
