1989 Ford Mustang car acts as if battery dead after long dr


The vehicle in question starts and runs ok. When I drive more than 20 miles and turn it off it will not restart. as if battery was dead.

left for a couple of hours it suddenly starts perfectly.

Car has recent starter new battery new battery cables.

It has acted as if it were stuck...after several tries it started.

Vehicle does not show antifreeze in oil nor oil in antifreeze.

car does not use water. Alternator is upgraded to third generation and has checked out at autozone machine.

battery cables or faulty starter motor is my guess. when it does not start what does it do? does it crank over slow? just a click from the solenoid? nothing?
