Engine Mechanical problem
1971 Ford Mustang V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Ok when I get the stang to start and running well and then I turn it off after riding around for a few mins, it always if not most of the time won't start back up. The engine is warmed up and everything but it keeps cranking and won't fire. After a few tries it just floods as usual. What could be the problem(s)? Is there anything I need to check?

If you have a good spark when you are trying to start it, I bet it flooded.

It does have good spark, and I got a stronger battery with more cranking amps and still the same problem. I was told just recently that the engine has a racing cam in it. Anyways still the same problem, it just cranks

Well the cam is probably the problem. Racing cams arent meant for start and shut off, start and shut off. The timing on the cam is not meant for that. But depending on the cam your timing may just be off.

It is most likely the cam because the cylinders build up with a lot of gas if you dont lay on the gas enough. Try getting it on it a lot, shut it off, wait a minute or two then try again. This will let you know if the cam is the problem.

Yes, a few weeks ago when I was still able to get it started once a day. It tends to start up really fast in colder weather, but now, not at all.

Just bought a high performance coil for the electronic mallory distributor the car has hoping that would help.

Still just cranks.
