Fuel Additives

I drive a Ford Focus 2001 ZX3 and it runs great.
Lately I am reading a lot about using fuel additives every 3000 miles to clean fuel injectors and the fuel system as preventative maintenance. Even though the car runs fine. Is that something that is advisable to do? There are also a lot of articles out there that tell you to keep your hands off those fuel system cleaning additives.

I'll echo that, you can cause more harm by over using them. OFten a lean condition that shouldn't be present will develop. I like to use a particular brand every 15,000, but not necessarily running it through the tank.
