I did not have a check engine light, until I went to the gas station an put gas. After putting gas (maybe 5 minutes), the check engine light came on. Could it be due to a bad gas cap? I mean my parameter cluster works fine and all the readings work fine too (speedometer, gas, oil, etc). I have changed my gas cap once, which I replaced it with an aftermarket one? Could that be the problem.

Look for the flexible fuel badge on the vehicle. If customer complains of MIL illumination with code PO460 and inoperative fuel gauge unplug flexible fuel sensor.

You will have to remove the radio and heater control head which takes about a minute. Sensor is a six wire plug bolted to dash support behind radio.

If gas gauge goes from zero to full or over full you need a new flexible fuel sensor.
