What hoses you checking? Best way to check for vaccum is carb. Cleaner. Start engine and spray everywhere on it, when you find a vaccum leka the idle will change usually increase.

To check for heater hoses, with a warm engine and gloves on, bend and feel each hose for moisture and cracks and visible leaks.
