The battery is connected. When I try and start the car it will not the battery goes dead. I shake the battery and the battery is now engaged but when I turn the key it goes dead. I feel it is a connection. Maybe from the battery to the starter. Does that seem right or is it something else? It happened before and the car started and I drove it around but this time is will not turn over and the battery disconnects. Help.

Sounds like you have a good handle on the problem, the first thing I would do is take the battery out and take it to you local auto parts store and see if they can test it for you. (I know Autozone offers this service for free). If the battery tests good I would move on to you next assumption and replace the cables, they should be relativly inexpensive. Hope this helps, and good luck.
