The tempature gauge, speedometer, and fuel guage all are going back and forth to the lowest point then to the highest point and then back to normal. The milage goes blank and the battery light came on a few times. The car seems to run fine while this is goin on. What could cause this?

One of two things, sounds like the voltage regulator inside the alternator is bad or the battery itself is going bad, autozone will test them for free.
