I own a 2001 ford focus zx3. I`m thinking it has a short in its electrical system somewhere but unsure. Whenever you try to accelerate quickly the car will begin to "jump" forward. What can cause this and how can it be fixed?

This doesn't sound electrical to me.

I don't think I fully understand the symptom. Heavy demand from the accelerator will make the car jump forward.

Clarify the symptoms.

I have seen a build up of carbon on the throttle plate making it sticky.

Look under "how to repair or service" on the left index of the site menu for cleaning procedures.
