Hello,

The alternator is located on the engine front near the firewall on the right side of the engine here is a guide that walks you through the removal and diagrams below to show you how it will be on your car.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Getting the alternator out of the 03 focus is a pain. You've got to remove a lot of parts to get it out. Be VERY careful, there is a small black pipe connected to the fuel rail (some have told me it's the fuel pressure regulator, but no parts stores seem to know what it is, and it's only available from Ford, and it's $100, so be careful you don't break it when you pull the alternator past it. Best just to unscrew it from the fuel rail!) I forget what all I had to take off, but, basically just start taking stuff off above it till you can get it out :(

When I try to start my car it wont start so I thought it was the battery then I took it where I got the battery to get it cleaned. It was working fine all that day then when I get up to get ready for work it dont want to start I had to jump my car to get it started a it has been working all day. I just bought my battery in dec and it started to corode so that's why I got it cleaned

Get the battery load tested if okay -could be a short circuit in the electrical system that's draining the battery overnite.

You need to check to make sure you are getting power to the alternator the big wire should always have battery voltage if not the you need to find out why.
