Smells problem
2000 Ford Focus Front Wheel Drive Automatic 110000 miles

I hit a dog that ran out in front of me. At the same time I hit it, I was trying to swerve to not hit it but an oncoming car was coming so I turned back to the right and hit the dog a second time then slammed into a curb. It sounded like I got a flat tire and then this awful smell came out. After the animal was removed, I was attempting to drive my car to the repair station. It made this terrible noise and the smell was still there. I also cracked the windshield which grew in size as I drove it. The repair station was about 4 blocks so I made it there driving very slowly. The mechanic looked at it and callled to tell me the struts and spring had been broken. He showed me the tire which had a gap missing around the entire tire which explained the smell. He gave me an estimate between 480 to 550 and asked if I was insured. I didn't know comprehensive covered these things. The rest of this is a whole other story so I'll stop here. Is that a reasonable price? It includes the struts and a new tire only. Thank you for the reply should I get one.

Hi there,

This is not out of the range you could expect depending on where the parts are sourced from, genuine will cost more and I hope that they wont be using second hand as that is far to expensive if that is the case. Just make sure that theres an alignment and a full steering check as well.
