ruff idle

i have a 1997 f250 with a 5.8 that runs ruff at idle just above 1000 RPM the missing goes away and runs just fine. and it gets poor gas mileage sence this has happen to the truck, p.s i replaced the plugs wires cap and roter button no changes . whats next? thanks

clean the injectors and add some fuel aditive to nice fresh fuel and let it run through and see if that clears anything up. If that does not remedy i would check the TPS or IAC. The TPS may be wiggling and loose causing the pcm to send improper fuel to the engine. the IAC may be plugged cau

TPS is the throttle position sensor and the IAC is idle air control. they are both located near the throttle body. (where the air intake hoses go to the engine)

I HAVE A 1997 FORD F 250 WITH A 351 IT WAS IDELING RUFF SO I WORKED ON IT TODAY TO TRY TO FIX, AND NOW THE TEMP GAGE DON'T WORK AND THE TRUCK DOESEN'T IDLE RUFF ANY MORE. IT PERS LIKE A KITTEN . WHAT I'M ASKING WITH THE WIRE THAT SENDS A SIGNAL TO THE GAGE, SENDS POWER TO OTHER CONTOLS THAT COULD MAKE IT MISS AT IDLE LIKE IT WAS A IDEL

yes, it could. the coolant temp sensor picks up on coolant temp and sends the signal to the coolant temp sending unit that sends a signal to the pcm adjusting hte fuel mixture and one to the guage.

what is in line with the temp senser that will mess things up i will replace the sensor it is cheep but if the senser is not bad whats next in line ? thanks for all your help larry

what is next in line after the coolant temp sensor is the coolant temp sending unit. that is waht sends the temp to the PCM and the guage.
