Battery light comes on above 2500 rpm
1998 Ford Ranger 3.0 liter V6 130,000 miles. Battery light blinks on, lights dim and altmeter goes to discharge above 2500 rpm. Battery terminals have a bit of buildup on them ,though they were cleaned and painted 6 mos ago. suspect alternator diode. Any insight

I side with your insight. When yo get an alternater, be wary. I would go top end NAPA or USA brand myself. All alernaters are not equal.
