Truck just makes a clicking noise when attempting to start. Tried to jump start did not. How do I test if solenoid, starter or relay?

how to test the starter? jump the solenoid with a screwdriver if the starter starts cranking the vehicle then its good, if not and it keeps clicking, battery could be dead, no good or you have a corroded connection somewhere.
if it does crank good then suspect the solenoid for being at fault.
