STARTING TROUBLES - 1997 FORD F-150, 178,000 MILES

My truck is having trouble starting on cold mornings. I have to hold the accel. down to keep it going and then it dies when I start to back up. Everything is fine once I get going down the road. Any help or information on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

sounds to me that you need a new coolant temp sensor.

also clean out your throttle body.
