I have a 1995 ford mustang GT 5.0 with 115000 miles, when I crank my car it will set there and idle for about 15- 20 minutes gradually the temp. Increases but does not get into the red zone, I can take it down the road and with the forced air the temp. Drops to normal, when stopped the temp. Agian rises, I have a new water pump, new fan motor, new 160 deg. Thermoistate I flushed the raidiater with store bought radiater flush.

First of all you need to put the factory 195 t-stat back in it. When they arent running at proper temp the emissions and performance will lag. In the underhood fuse block there is a 60 amp fan fuse, check that first. Does the cooling fan turn on when the a/c is on? The cooling fan gets its trigger from the PCM, there is a Constant COntrol Relay Module behind the coolant resevoir, it has the relay in it for the cooling fan and could very likely be the problem

When the cooling fan runs does it stay on? Or does it shut off after cooling the engine? Look for obstructions in front of the radiator

If the fan turns off in a reasonable amount of time, the gauge might be off. An infra-red heat gun will tell you if the gauge and actual temp are near each other
