Motor Mounts

I made a donation. Not sure how you track that. I own a 1991 F-150 with a 5.8 liter V-8 with 98k miles. About a month a ago it started to shake when I hit the gas. The shake/shimmy is pretty obvious. Feels like the truck is going to shake apart. When it idols there is no shake. I was told by a friend that this is the motor mounts. The shake stops when I take my foot off the gas going down the road. Does that sound like the motor mounts? If so, how hard is it to fix/replace them?

Sounds more like a carrier bearing or a universal joint on the driveshaft. If you hold the driveshaft with one hand and the yoke with the other you can twist the driveshaft and see if any movement is present in the driveshaft.
