2004 Ford F150 Side view mirror

Interior problem
2004 Ford F150 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 85000 miles

My passenger side view mirror got in the way of a mailbox and was broken off. Do I need to replace the entire mirror assembly which requires removal of the interior door panel, or can I replace what I can get at on the outside? If so, how do I go about disassemble of the mirror from the outside.
I have included a pic.

Hello –

Also, it looks like you may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.

Hello –

Thanks for the pics………….

From what I can tell from the pics without being able to actually touch them………it looks like to me the whole part needs to be replaced if the plastic is broke where I think it is. It looks like it is broken all around the base where the wires come out…….Yes?

The pic with the red arrow……is that just a groove in the plastic or does that pop in and out?

Item 4: Exterior Mirror Glass Removal Note

1. Position exterior mirror glass in the full UP position.

4. If equipped with heated mirrors, disconnect electrical connectors from the exterior mirror glass.

Item 4: Exterior Mirror Glass Installation Note

1. If equipped with heated mirrors, connect the electrical connector to the mirrors.

2. Position the exterior mirror glass on the mirror motor.

CAUTION: Place a clean shop towel between hand and exterior mirror glass to prevent injury in the event of glass breakage.

3. Place a hand against the back of the exterior mirror housing and a hand flat against the exterior mirror glass. Press the mirror glass in place until it is fully seated.

You will be able to see if you can replace certain parts by talking to the parts department and getting a pic of the IPB. If you don’t want to purchase them new then check a salvage yard.

It looks like if you are not just replacing the mirror…..which you need more than that…..you need to remove it from the door. I have attached the info I have.

It does look like on this below pic that once you disconnect from the inside that part comes right off. If it looks the way it seems from here…..once you remove the nuts from the inside, that entire center part comes off/out leaving the larger part attached to the vehicle and the bottom part of the mirror assembly.

Right click and save my pics to your PC then when you open them use your viewer to make larger….see if that helps….I have also tried to blow them up some……..

Hope that helps.

Hello –

I apologize. The cover plate and window control switch is not shown in the manual I am looking at. Sometimes that means they consider that basic enough to be performed by looking at it.

Also please remember….the manuals are written for a wide variety of vehicles therefore there may be some minor differences that you will have to adjust to as you go.

These usually pop out with a flat blade. BUT you must be careful not to put too much pressure on anyone spot to prevent cracking or chipping it.

Sometimes depending on how much connector cable is there, once you remove the door panel a little, there is enough slack to disconnect the connector and then once the panel is off you can look under it to see how the switch is held in, then remove prior to installation.

That appears to be the way the tweeter is installed when you look at the pic The screws that hold it appear to be coming in from the back side of the door panel indicating that the panel is first removed, then the connector is disconnected and then you have access to the speaker.

The main speaker looks like you remove the 4 screws and then disconnect.

DOOR SPEAKER

1. For the front door tweeter, remove the front door trim panel. Refer to BODY SYSTEM - INTERIOR .

2. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

3. For the front door speaker, remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

I have attached the notes and when it said to look at a link, the only one I see (unless I missed one which is possible) is the one that refers to the view the tip……….I put that right under it.

The only other link I see is for disconnecting the speakers………I will attach those for you.
