F150 CANNOT SEPARATE SLAVE DRIVE FROM TRANSMISSIO

1997 Ford F-150

Transmission problem
1997 Ford F150 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 104000 miles

Removed all bolts from transmission and still cannot separate transmission from engine. Is there a special procedure to get this accomplished?

Removal (2WD)
Shift transmission into Neutral. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove shift lever boot. Remove retaining bolt lock nut and place on opposite end of bolt. Tighten lock nut to remove retaining bolt. Remove shift lever and housing.
Raise vehicle on hoist. Disconnect back-up light switch. Drain transmission if disassembly is required. Position transmission jack under transmission. Index mark drive shaft flange to differential. Remove drive shaft. Disconnect clutch slave cylinder hydraulic line by pressing White retainer bushing with Disconnect Tool (T88T-70522-A) while pulling on line.
Remove rear engine support insulator and crossmember. Remove bellhousing-to-engine bolts. Move transmission rearward until input shaft clears flywheel. Lower transmission from vehicle.
Installation
Ensure transmission input shaft splines are clean and free of rust. Place transmission on transmission jack. Install guide studs in engine block. Raise transmission until input shaft splines are aligned with clutch disc splines.
Slide transmission forward into position on guide studs. Remove guide studs and install bellhousing-to-engine bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
Removal (4WD)
Shift transmission into Neutral. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove shift lever boot. Remove retaining bolt lock nut and place on opposite end of bolt. Tighten lock nut to remove retaining bolt. Remove shift lever and housing.
Raise vehicle on hoist. If disassembly is required, drain fluid from transmission and transfer case. Disconnect front and rear drive shafts from transfer case. Disconnect electrical connectors and vent hose from transfer case.
On manual shift transfer case, disconnect control rod between transfer case shift lever and control selector lever. Remove clutch slave cylinder hydraulic line by pressing White retainer bushing with Disconnect Tool (T88T-70522-A) while pulling on line. Disconnect back-up light switch.
Remove skid plate (if equipped). Position transmission jack under transfer case. Remove transfer case-to-transmission bolts. Lower transfer case. Ensure transfer case shift lever (if equipped) clears opening in floor pan. Remove transmission rear mount and lower retainer.
Raise transmission with transmission jack. Remove rear engine support insulator and crossmember. Remove bellhousing-to-engine block bolts. Move transmission rearward until input shaft clears flywheel. Lower transmission from vehicle.
Installation
Ensure transmission input shaft splines are clean and free of rust. Place transmission on transmission jack. Install guide studs in engine block. Raise transmission until input shaft splines are aligned with clutch disc splines.
Slide transmission forward into position on guide studs. Remove guide studs and install bell housing-to-engine bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
ZF S5-47 (M5HD) 5-SPEED
Removal & Installation (2WD)
Shift transmission into Neutral. Remove shift lever boot and shift lever boot retainer. Remove upper shift lever from lower shift lever. Remove 4 Allen head bolts and remove lower shift lever. On diesel engine vehicles, loosen wastegate housing exhaust outlet clamp.
Raise vehicle on hoist and position safety stands under vehicle. On diesel engine vehicles, remove engine charge exhaust pipe and extension pipe. On all vehicles, disconnect back-up light switch. Drain oil. Position transmission jack under transmission.
Disconnect drive shaft and clutch linkage from transmission, and wire aside. On "F" Series-Super Duty vehicles, remove transmission parking brake from transmission. On all models, remove transmission rear insulator and lower retainer. Remove crossmember.
Remove bolts that retain transmission to engine block. Move transmission to rear until input shaft clears clutch disc. Lower transmission from vehicle. To install transmission, reverse removal procedure.
Removal & Installation (4WD)
Shift transmission into Neutral. Remove shift lever boot and shift lever boot retainer. Remove upper shift lever from lower shift lever. Remove 4 Allen head bolts and remove lower shift lever. On diesel engine vehicles, loosen wastegate housing exhaust outlet clamp.
Raise vehicle on hoist. On diesel engine vehicles, remove engine charge exhaust pipe and extension pipe. On all vehicles, remove front and rear drive shafts from vehicle. Disconnect back-up light switch. Disconnect electrical connector and vent hose from transfer case. Disconnect control rod (if equipped). Remove skid pan from beneath transfer case (if equipped). Drain transmission and transfer case.
Position transmission jack under transfer case. Remove 6 bolts holding transfer case to transmission and lower transfer case from vehicle. Ensure transfer case shift lever (if equipped) clears opening in floor pan.
Support transmission with transmission jack and secure with safety chain. Remove transmission rear insulator and lower retainer. Remove crossmember. Remove transmission-to-engine block bolts. Move transmission to rear until input shaft clears clutch disc and lower transmission from vehicle. To install transmission, reverse removal procedure.
