1997 F-150 fuel gauge

I have a 1997 f-150 with 109840 miles on it the past 2 months I will go start the truck and the fule gauge will read a full tank even though it only has a quarter of a tank then I will go drive then shut it off and it will read properly but let it sit overnight and start it up it goes back up to full again any help would be appreciated thanks

Id check make sure all the wires are connected to the pump securly also it may be tiem for a new fuel pump
