1996 Ford F150 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

The battery cables on the f250 get so hot they melt the positibe post. All new cables, starter relay. Does not start just clicks and cables heats up. What could be the cause. All grounds have been checked.

Does it only get that hot when key turned or as soon as battery is connected?

With key in on position it do that? How bout key in start?

Has the starter been replaced?
