My truck has had two new Starters put on by the Ford shop.

The original was replaced in Jan 2009 and the second was replaced March 2009.

The first time the wire to the cel-la-noide was burned off all the way back to the harness, So I had ford do the work.

The second time after driving 6 miles the started would not do anything. I checked the battery an it was fully charged and the cables are clean and tight.

I was only 5 blocks from home so I went home had dinner and talked to the dealer. I went back to the truck about 5 hours latter and the truck started. The next day the trucked started and I took it to the dealer.

I was told that everything was fine and was asked what I wanted them do. I asked for the starter to be replaced and they told me they did.

I took a trip of about 150 miles and stopped for gas at about 120 mile and the same thing happened. When I got in and turned the key nothing. I checked the battery, the cables and tried to turn the engine a little by moving the belt, I just wanted to-do some thing.

I got back in an turned the key and it started.

I did notice that when I first started the truck that morning, when I put the key in with the door shut that I did not get that ring or bussing sound, and when it did not start the other times I did not get that sound.

I got the truck to my father’s houses and checked and tighten all wires and starter bolts.

It has been working to get me home but still not sure the problem is really fixed.

If you point me in some direction I would appreciate it.

Has the solenoid been replaced? Also, when this happens, I need you to check something. Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for voltage at the smaller wire on the starter. THere should be 12+ volts. If there isn't, we need to work backwards. If there is, the starter is junk.

LEt me know what you find.
