1984 Ford F150 adjustable vacuum advance

how do I find the right area to set my adjustable vacuum advance to? also what should my timing be set at, I have it set at 8 degress? My set up is a ford 302, with a edelbrock performer intake, a holley 390 cfm carb and a duraspark 2 ignition system

You mean where to place vac hose? if so on carb find ported nipple ie. no vac at idle vac as throttle opens.You mean 8 BTDC or 8ATDC if no trouble starting go for 8ATDC. Adjust vac advance to full advance at 1800roms.

no I should have been more clear, Inside my vacuum advance canister on the distributor, there is a adjustment that you can do to make the vacuum advance come on later, or as soon as the vacuum is applied to it. It is a small allenwrench that fits inside of the inlet for the vacuum line.

you want full advance no sooner than 1800rpms.
I would want adv to come on as soon as possible
