I own a 1997 Ford Explorer LTD automatic 5 Liter, 8 cilinder 3.02engine. I have problem shifting from drive to parking. I some instances it shift to Reverse but it is in Parking. Also sme times it wont start the engine when shifted to parking

It'e either a missadjust shift linkage or a bad parking Pawl. Linkage you can do yourself. Pawl will need a tranny shop!

Set a parking brake or chaulk the wheels then loosen the nut on the shift lever, by hand put it in park by moving the lever all the way. Then retighten the nut.
