1995 EXPLORER 130,000 MILES. FUEL INJECTORS ARE UNTOUCHED ORIGINALS. DUE TO GAS COSTS IS IT COST EFFECTIVE TO INSPECT AND CLEAN/OVERHAUL THE INJECTORS OR IS OPENING THEM UP ASKING FOR TROUBLE! CAR RUNS FINE.

IMHO just run a tank of gas with fuel injector cleaner thru evry so often. I like Chevron Techron myself. There is a screen that can be cleaned on ford injectors and there are professional cleaning services available locally and online. I would do neither as long as the engine is running properly.

Fuel savings tips abound everywhere with the advent of $3.00 a gallon gas. Here are a few of my favorites.

Be sure of the proper operation of the thermostat. A stat that is stuck (open) will not allow the engine to reach operating temperature quickly if at all. The computer interprets this as a cold engine and provides a richer air fuel ratio.

Lighten the load. Auto manufacturers went to compact spare tires and plastic/composite materials to save weight and reach mandated fuel economy goals. Take the junk out of the trunk!

Put a quarter on the dash. Drive in a manner that will not cause the quarter to move. Fast start, stops, and turns all waste fuel.

Good luck. :)
